The books that I most particularly enjoy are the old ones with yellowed pages, creased spines, and dog-eared corners. For what is the use of a book if you cannot tell it has been loved by many? A book's scars are what gives it character, for each flaw, each imperfection is just proof of its greatness, evidence of each person who spent time hunched over its pages time after time again. I believe that each time you read a book, an exchange is made. You keep part of that book with you always, and in return the book keeps a bit of you. I don't care for new books with shiny dust-jackets and their perfect white pages. The dust-jacket must come off immediately, the spine must be cracked, the corners must be bent, the ink splotched from tears of joy and sadness. The book should carry evidence of your journey throughout it!
