POEM: My Daylily-Amaryllis Some flowers may wither and leave for a season, The frozen white sheet hides their bodies- Their bewitching appeal and reason. But No, not you- not you! These things that wither and leave until May, Are not as exquisite as you are- you are! Yes, though the Daylily is as a ‘Beautiful Day’,You are more precious and bright, by far. But OH, if my melody could reach your small soul, And shoo the raw mist that dare cover it! I would that you return as the Daylilies roll, But become, thereafter, as the Amaryllis. And perhaps, then, we could be as we could have been, Had you never met the white mist… And you will be my little ‘Radiant Lady’ then, You, My little Amaryllis. -KH -K O
