I sit down and I write things and the words I write are good sometimes, and they were mine. I made something out of all this fucking shit, this knee deep pool of human waste and self-disgust and anger, I waded to a place where I can create a thing that is not a waste of time, that is not dumb, that is worth my life. Even when it isn't good, when it is just a reflection of the pool of waste, it stands in the place of the ability inside of me to do something good with all of this nonsense, and no matter how much I dislike myself or the world, I have that thing that makes things inside me, and I am proud of that, and I wouldn't give it up or let that part be hurt. It is a rightness that can't be taken from me. I turn the world into words and the words are beautiful sometimes, and those are the times that I feel beautiful and don't hate myself so much and life doesn't feel like the worst thing in the world to happen to a person, just for a moment. -Bryce Clark
